Your choice of speaker can make or break you conference, meeting or seminar. They’re a popular choice for events in education and business, so are motivational speakers worth it? When carefully chosen to match your event, yes.
Celebrities, sportspeople, academics and experts are just some of the types of motivational speakers available. As a result, choosing is not simple, but it is important.
Some speakers are authors renowned for their expertise in a particular field. They may not have the status of a celebrity per se, but providing you have chosen them carefully, they are likely to be well known and well respected amongst your audience. This sort of speaker could be a very useful addition to training seminars or conferences, particularly if the event coincides with the introduction of a new business system for which your speaker can vouch. Normally the speaker will talk about success stories to bring about positivity and motivation. A speaker like this may even manage to convince your audience of your ideas.
There are also motivational speakers who are regarded as successful but not as experts. These pseudo-celebrities often have heart-warming stories of success or courage in the face of adversity. None of that is necessarily a bad thing though. They may be able to motivate by promoting an ‘anyone can do it’ attitude. Their potential lack of authority may mean they aren’t the best choice for corporate events. But this certainly doesn’t mean they don’t work. Their personal stories still have motivational value for events such as graduations and weight loss groups.
Finally, sports men and women are frequently employed as motivational speakers. They can be employed to share stories of dedication and commitment and the success they brought, motivating audiences and creating positive attitudes. Sports speakers are perhaps the most versatile, proving popular at many events.
